Bruss Construction to Manage Nubi River Development

Bruss Construction Inc. has been selected as Construction Manager for the Nubi River Neighborhood Complex in Peterborough, NH. This "sustainably constructed" neighborhood will provide homes for up 32 households with a common house, common amenities, and office space. Project is designed by O'Neill Pennoyer Architects.

A sustainably constructed project will lessen the environmental burden on the construction site. Sustainable construction provides intelligently designed buildings that save energy, reuse resources, and that closely monitor building materials to ensure more efficient construction. Bruss Construction works hard to lead the way and incorporate sustainable building practices in many of its projects.

Design development work on the project is underway with construction scheduled to start in the spring in the 2006.

Brennan Joins Bruss Team

Bruss Construction Inc. is pleased to have Edmund Brennan join their construction team. Brennan will be working as an Assistant Project Manager. Ed has a degree in Project Management from the Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Brennan has experience in high end and middle level residential construction and most types of light commercial construction.

Bruss to Build ‘Sustainable Living Center’ in Lyme

Bruss Construction Inc. has been selected as Construction Manager for the Green Woodlands "Sustainable Living Center" in Lyme, NH. The project consists of construction of multiple buildings over a 4-year period on the 20,000-acre site.

Work will include construction of a new hydroelectric plant to generate electricity for the buildings. Other projects include a main living building, which will be part of the U.S. Green Building Council residential building pilot program, a lodge, and an environmental research center. All projects will feature "sustainable construction" and design practices, and be constructed without connection to any public utilities. The buildings will only utilize energy from renewable energy sources. The project is being designed by Banwell Architects of Lebanon, NH. Construction is scheduled to start in the spring of 2006.

Bruss Construction: Community Focused and Growing

Bruss Construction is pleased to announce that John Bruss has been elected as a Board Member of the Bradford Area Community Center. Bruss Construction works hard to stay involved in the community in which it lives and works. This will be a terrific opportunity for Bruss Construction to continue to exhibit its community support.

Bruss Construction is pleased to announce the addition of Dag Lidbeck, Project Superintendent, as part of our team. Dag joins Bruss with over 12 years experience in Construction Management, he holds an Associate of Science: Civil Engineering degree as well as a Bachelor of Science: Finance degree. In addition, Dag has a MA Construction Supervisor's License and a NH Real Estate Salesperson's License.

Bruss Wins ABC Excellence Awards for Opechee Inn and Sunapee Bank

The New Hampshire/Vermont Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors has recognized Bruss Construction for excellence in design-build and construction for two recent projects.

The Lake Opechee Inn and Spa won an Excellence Award in the Commercial $5-$10M category. Bruss provided renovations to 40,000 square feet within the complex, which features a 170-seat restaurant, a 34-room inn and a full- service day spa. The project involved transforming a turn of the century manufacturing mill into a luxury lake front resort. Construction to opening was completed in nine months and has become a cornerstone of adaptive reuse planning for the City of Laconia.

Also recognized with an Excellence Award in the Commercial Under $2M category was Bruss Construction's renovation of the Peterborough, NH Lake Sunapee Bank branch office. This project consisted of transforming a dilapidated 4000 square foot granary building into a fully code compliant up-to-date banking and professional investment office space.

NH Leader in Sustainable Building Among Sponsors of IDID Conference

Bruss Construction, a leader in sustainable build design and construction, is sponsoring the third Integrated Design Integrated Development (IDID) Conference. The annual conference will be October 6-7 at the Appalachian Mountain Club Highland Center at Crawford Notch in Breton Woods, NH.

For over 20 years, Bruss Construction has been involved in sustainable design construction. Bruss was the first builder in New England to be "LEED" Certified at the Gold Level for their construction of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests' French Wing.

The conference will feature workshops and panel discussions on sustainable building, including the environmental impact of the I-93 corridor improvement project and how to improve teamwork between architects and builders in sustainable construction. Other conference sponsors include The Environmental Guild NH Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and the Office of Sustainability Programs University of New Hampshire, among others.

Bruss Construction to Make Banking Beautiful

Bruss Construction has been selected to construct the renovations to the TD Banknorth branch in Merrimack, NH. Work includes a complete lobby renovation with new office spaces, a new safe deposit area as well as a complete new teller line with all new finishes throughout the interior. Work is currently underway with completion scheduled for the end of August 2005.

Bruss Construction is pleased to announce several recent promotions. These promotions are in line with Bruss’ continuing attempts to improve customer service and responsiveness to clients’ needs. Bruss is pleased to announce that Rick Alibrandi and Jake Hewson have recently been promoted to Project Manager.

Bruss Construction’s Knoxland Project Underway

Bruss Construction is excited to announce that they have been selected as the design-build contractor for Knoxland Equipment Inc.’s new home facility in Warner, NH.

The 14,000 sq. ft. facility will be utilized for agriculture and construction equipment sales and service and will also feature a parts store. Construction is currently underway and is projected to be finished in early 2006.

Knoxland Equipment Inc. has specialized in the sales and service of construction, landscaping, and farm equipment since 1962.

Bruss Completes Opechee Inn & Spa and is chosen Construction Manager for Concord Food Co-OP

Bruss Construction Inc. is pleased to announce the completion of Lake Opechee Inn & Spa located in Laconia, NH.

This 44,000 square foot historic mill building was transformed into a luxury lake front resort destination. Bruss negotiated State and Federal shoreline and wetland regulatory processes without causing any construction delays. Public reaction has made this project an overwhelming success and demonstrated successfully the positive effects and outcomes of re-use of older buildings.

Bruss is also pleased to announce they have been chosen as Construction Manager for Concord Food Co-op.

Bruss will provide construction services for the interior fit up of existing space as a retail grocery store. The store will be ready for operation mid December.

Leister Becomes Project Manager at Bruss Construction

Bruss Construction Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Chris Leister to their construction team. Leister has over 20 years of experience in light and heavy commercial construction, including extensive Federal and State work. He will serve as a Project Manager as well as Estimator for Bruss.

Leister is a Graduate of the University of Vermont with a BS in Civil Engineering and is a registered Engineer in Training. In addition, Leister is an unrestricted Massachusetts Licensed Superintendent.

Pioneering Leader in Enviro-Friendly Buildings to Speak at Harris Center Event

Michael Bruss, President of Bruss Construction of Bradford, will be a panelist as the New Hampshire Chapter of the American Institute of Architects presents Transforming the Harris Center: Lessons Learned in High Performance Building Design on April 21st.

Bruss Construction teamed with Coldham Architects to create an award winning, environmentally friendly design-build for the Harris Center located in Hancock, NH. The event will feature a tour of the Harris Center, a reception, dinner and panel discussions on how environmentally sound, sustainable building can be used in order to conserve, preserve and protect the planet.

Construction and renovation of the Harris Center was completed in 2003. The effort maximized reusable materials, environmentally sound build-design and energy efficient practices. Michael Bruss and Bruss Construction is a pioneering leader in "green building", having received national honors for their work on The French Wing of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forest's Conservation Center. The project was the first in New England to receive Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council under the rigorous standards of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program (LEED).

Two Bruss Construction Executives Elected to NH Boards

Bruss Construction is pleased to announce that Jim Bruss has been elected First Vice President of Associated Builders and Contractors of NH/VT.

Jim Bruss has served on the Board of Directors of this merit shop trade organization for the past two years. Bruss Construction has been a member for the past five years and believes ABC NH/VT is an important group working hard to raise the standards of professionalism in the construction industry and assisting in training the next generation of crafts people.

Bruss Construction is also pleased to announce that its President, Michael Bruss has been elected to the Board of Directors of the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance. The NHPA works within the state of NH to preserve and maintain the legacy of our past to pass down to future generations. Michael looks forward to being a part of the group and working to promote adaptive re-use of existing architectural treasures within the state.

Bruss and Casey Continue Family-Like Relationship

Bruss Construction is pleased to announce a continued working relationship with Casey Family Services. The latest project in Franklin, NH is just one of many Bruss has undertaken for Casey.

Bruss will be building a stand alone 2000 square foot complex next to the Franklin, NH Middle School to serve as a Community Center which will hold Casey Family Service office space, a Community Outreach Service, and Health and Human Resources offering counseling services. The project will begin in early 2005.
